Punjab NOV 09 : The state government will soon hire 400 doctors to increase the number of health services available in the state, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced on Friday. According to him, the hiring procedure is now complete.
While taking part in a state-level dengue awareness campaign, Balbir Singh stated, “In addition, new medical colleges would be opened in four districts — Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Sangrur, and Malerkotla — to make the state a hub for medical education.”
Teams from the health department, as well as students from the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in the Faridkot district and Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, are supporting the initiative. He claimed that citizens and educational institutions are fully supporting the state government in its efforts to combat dengue.
According to the minister, Punjab has seen a notable decrease in dengue cases this year as a result of special measures implemented by the government and the health department’s awareness campaign. He said that only 120 dengue cases have been detected this time around, compared to 654 cases last year in the Faridkot district. He emphasized that the best way to spread knowledge about vector-borne diseases and other disorders is through students.
He told authorities from the health department that all students should have routine examinations, that their assistance should be used in the dengue campaign, and that students who excel in this area will receive recognition. Additionally, he conducted a Q&A session with schoolchildren, discussing dengue prevention and treatment measures.
He claimed that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) in the state have treated more than 2.25 crore patients. Physicians and support personnel will soon be assigned to hospitals at the district and subdivision levels. With the help of doctors, workers, and public officials, the lack of medications in hospitals will be addressed, and many improvements will be made,” he stated.
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) vice-chancellor Dr. Rajiv Sood gave the minister his word that the university’s and the medical college’s students would do everything in their power to aid in the fight against dengue.
